Perran Boran

Perran Boran, is a professor of Pediatrics at the Marmara University, School of Medicine, and earned her PhD degree on Social Pediatrics. She is the founder and division chief of Social Pediatrics, and also chairs the department of Pediatrics at her university. She is giving lectures on well child visits, breastfeeding counselling, feeding, sudden infant death, early childhood sleep, child rights, child abuse and neglect. She is also the founder of the pediatric sleep outpatient clinic, where children aged between 0 to 3 years, who have behavioral insomnia were assessed, at the Ministry of Health Marmara University Pendik Research and Training Hospital.

She has completed, and ongoing projects on sleep in children, funded by the university. She translated a programme, called Thinking Healthy, developed by the congress’ invited international speaker Prof Atif Rahman and adopted by the World Health Organization. The programme has been designed for the management of peripartum depression in primary care. The Turkish version of the book has been printed by the Marmara University Press. This year, she starts accepting students for the doctoral programme on Social Pediatrics, she has opened at Marmara University Institute of Health Sciences. Her areas of interest are early childhood behavioral sleep problems, and peripartum depression. She had her training for behavioral insomnia of childhood at Australia, and training for Acceptance and Commitment therapy both at Australia and Spain.

Sarah Blunden

Professor Sarah Blunden (MAPS, FCCLP, BAPsych (Hons), MSocSc, PhD) has a dual role as an academic and a clinical psychologist. She is Head of Paediatric Sleep Research at Central Queensland University, Australia and is also Director of the Clinical Masters in Psychology Program for CQUniversity Australia. As well, she is the Founder/Director of the Australian Centre for Education in Sleep and the Paediatric Sleep Clinic (www.sleepeducation.net.au) where she practices as clinical psychologist in private practice specialising in the treatment of children’s sleep problems. Sarah is also chair of the Indigenous Sleep Working Party of the Australasian Sleep Association which aims to promote awareness of the importance of sleep in indigenous populations. She is also the elected paediatric representative of the Education committee, and chair of the Sleep Guidelines working party of the Australasian Sleep Association. Sarah has presented over 70 conference presentations and published over 100 academic papers and books including The Sensible Sleep Solution for infants and the Boss of My sleep Book for Toddlers, which present a responsive method behavioural sleep intervention. Her areas of research interest are sleep education for schools, communities, families and psychologists, behavioural sleep interventions and indigenous sleep health.
